LightPiano is a unique melt of videomapping and classical music consisting out of 54 video mapped cubes linked to the keys of a piano.
In the footage below LightPiano 1.0 is specially setup for Chopin's 'Fantaisie Impromptu'. For the design we recorded every key press on the piano so we could see which keys are used when Arion was playing the piece. In this manner we could see how many cubes we needed and more important where they belonged in the design.
There is also a version 2.0 and 2.1 which are touring the world. Instead of mapping these are made with plastic cubes and led's so they can withstand extreme weather. Places it attended are amongst others Amsterdam Light Festival (opening act), Lichtfestival Ghent, Winterfestival of Lights Niagara Waterfalls and Hong Kong Pulse Light Festival.
The video footage below is recorded during the opening of Oscar Fischinger's expo in the EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam in which we were the first act to open the evening, performed by Arion de Munck.
